The China Minmetals Corporation’s Peru Las Bambas copper project officially put into operation
Minmetals Resources ltd owned by China Minmetals China Minmetals Corporation (here after called’China Minmetals’) released a proclamation declaring: Peru Las Bambas copper project officially put into operation. This marks the creation of the largest overseas acquisition to date in the history of Chinese Mining Las Bambas copper metal construction, commission on site work has been completed on schedule.
Currently LasBambas Copper output is over 400,000ton copper per day rated daily mining energy minerials. Copper concentrator has 2 production line successfully operation, the project enter the producing raise phase. Follow-up, as the project production standards, China MinMetals will become China’s largest copper mine, one of the top 10 manufacturers and the world’s top copper producer.
In the 4th quarter of 2015, Las Bambas Copper tested debugging work, and smoothly produced out the copper concentrate during this testing period. China Minmetals sources shipped the first 10,000ton concentrate copper on January 15, 2016 at Matarani Peru port.
April 14th, 2014, Under China Minmetals Minmetals Resources Limited and the National International Investment Limited, CITIC Metal co.,ltd, composition of the Commonwealth and Glencore signed a stock purchase agreement Las Bambas poject. On July 31st, 2014 sucessfully completed equity settlement. The project’s acquisition price and total capital expenditure incurred more than 10billion U.S.dollars. It is the largest overseas acquisition to date in the history of the implementation of Chinese metal mining. The successful implementation of this acquisition not only greatly enhances the safeguard China’s copper resources strategy, but also have an important role in promoting economic development of Peru and Lartin America economic and trade relations.
Las Bambas is a large, long-life copper located in Cotabambas, Apuriamac region of Peru. Las Bambas has significant Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves of copper, gold, silver and molybdenum and once in production is estimated to have a mine life in excess of 20 years. The copper has 12million tons
According to reports, in the next few months the project will focus on the production increasing. In order to achieve beneficiation processing capacity 140,000tons per day as nominal capacity as soon as possible. With the enhance production, in 2016 year, Las Bambas copper project’s copper concentrate producing capacity from 250,000 to 300,000ton. After stable production, cash cost will be in the global cooper mine cost curve in the first quadrant.
